Last week, the Ron Paul campaign sent an email to supporters regarding the caucus results from Maine. With only 84 percent of the votes tallied in Maine, Mitt Romney was declared the winner. Only 39 percent of those votes favored Mitt Romney.  Fewer than 200 votes separated the two candidates.

Romney was declared the winner by the Maine republican party chairman, with 3 counties missing votes and with the difference in votes between the two candidates being less than 200.

One of the counties with missing votes, Washington County, had it's caucuses "postponed" due to a snow storm. However the Maine republican party has now declared that Washington County votes will not be counted before the date their caucuses were postponed to. It should be noted that the snow storm predicted to interfere with the caucuses in Washington County did not occur.

The Paul campaign had predicted a win in Washington County. Washington County was the only county that Ron Paul carried in Maine 4 years ago. According to Doug Wead, senior advisor to the Paul campaign, the man responsible for canceling the Washington County caucus was a Mitt Romney supporter.

In Waldo County, caucuses were held a week before the Maine republican party announced Mitt Romney as the winner. However, the majority of the votes in that county will also not be counted. The Rachel Maddow Show contacted the Maine republican party to question why these votes weren't counted and they did not respond.

Last month the Iowa Republican Party who runs the Iowa caucuses certified the final results after 16 days of deliberation. The final total was Rick Santorum winning by 34 votes. Howeveronly hours after the caucuses concluded and before 8 precincts had been counted,  Republican chairman Matt Strawn concluded that Romney had won by eight votes. The media picked up the announcement and immediately declared Romney the winner.
